MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (19mm, 8.53 gm, 5h). NGC AU 4/5 - 2/5, marks. Posthumous issue of Tyre, dated Regnal Year 30 of Azemilkos (320/19 BC). Head of Athena right, hair flowing in loose waves, wearing pearl necklace and triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, long parallel crest ends, bowl decorated with griffin leaping right / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Nike standing facing, head left, wreath in outstretched right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; -= (date) ЧO (Phoenician for Azemilkos) in left field below wing. Price 3277 (Ake). Unusually off-centered obverse, yet retaining nearly all of the details because of the compact style of the die and the generous flan. The reverse nicely centered.
