TROAN ISLANDS. Tenedos. Ca. 225-150 BC. AR tetradrachm (34mm, 16.97 gm, 11h). NGC Choice XF 5/5 - 3/5, brushed. Late posthumous issue in the name and types of Lysimachus of Thrace, ca. 200 BC. Diademed head of deified Alexander III right, with horn of Ammon; dotted border / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΛΥΣΙΜΑXΟΥ, Athena enthroned left, throne with leonine leg, Nike in right hand crowning name, left arm resting on shield decorated with bearded male head (satyr?) boss, transverse spear beyond; herm left in outer left field, AI in inner left field, bipennis in exergue. Thompson -. Muller 94 var. (Sestus mint, A in left field). Struck on massive flan with deep toning and a light sheen of color. Very rare mint for Lysimachus. The sole example in sales archives.
