PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysus (Auletes) (ca. 80-51 BC). AR stater or tetradrachm (27mm, 13.96 gm, 12h). NGC Choice AU 4/5 - 3/5, scratches. Alexandria, dated Regnal Year 28 (54/3 BC). Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, aegis tied around neck; dotted border / ΠTOΛEMAIOY-BAΣIΛEΩΣ, eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt, palm over right wing; L KH (date) above headdress of Isis in left field, ΠA in right field, dotted border. Svoronos 1837 (Ptolemy XIII). SNG Copenhagen 395. Magnificent portrait and bold eagle. Bright obverse and lightly toned lavender reverse. Quite attractive in hand.
