João V gold 6400 Reis (Peça) 1741/31-B MS63 NGC, Bahia mint, KM151, LMB-141, cf. Guimaraes-1741-1.1 (unlisted overdate). Forth shield. An unlikely survivor of this elusive date, showing mesmerizing surfaces with reflective lustrous fields, somewhat Prooflike, and razor-sharp devices. If the coin grade itself wasn't enough, it's an interesting overdate missed by Guimaraes, where the dies from the extremely rare 1731 issue (2 known) were re-punched to 1741. Only the second piece we have managed to locate of this overdate variety, this amazing survivor is sure to excite Brazilian type collectors. From the Petropolis Collection, Part I
