JUDAEA. Bar Kokhba Revolt (AD 132-135). AR sela (27mm, 15.47 gm, 12h). NGC MS 4/5 - 5/5, overstruck. Undated issue of Year 3 (AD 134/5). Simon (Paleo-Hebrew) on two sides, star above façade of the Jerusalem Temple, the Ark of the Covenant seen from end in center of entrance / For the Freedom of Jerusalem (Paleo-Hebrew), lulav with etrog at left. GBC 6, 6439. GBC 5, 1411. TJC 267. Nicely centered and a valiant attempt at obliterating the host coin. Luckily for modern collectors there is just enough to identify the undertype.
Overstruck on an issue of the following type: SYRIA. Antioch. Nerva (AD 96-98). AR tetradrachm. KAIΣ ΣEB-AVT NEPOVAΣ, laureate head of Nerva right, aegis around neck / ETOVΣ NEOV IEPOV, eagle standing right on thunderbolt, wings spread; palm frond to right. Prieur 149-150.
