Ferdinand I gold Proof "Salvator Mundi" Medal of 6 Ducats ND (post-1843) PR61 Cameo NGC, cf. Forrer VIII-297 (for engraver). 34mm. 20.84gm. Plain edge, with A in circle privy at 12 o'clock. By K. Lange. A handsome portrayal of this generally elusive and beloved Salvator Mundi type, featuring the profile of Christ and a detailed city-view over Vienna. While light scattered chatter appears over the open surfaces in-line with what is typical for the issue, the fields otherwise are deeply mirrored, and create a cameo effect against the frosty reverse scene. For comparison, we would note that another example in this weight brought $16,800 in our May Platinum sale.
