Augsburg. Free City 2 Taler 1740-IT MS64 NGC, Augsburg mint, KM146, Dav-1920, Förschner-150, Forster-519. 58.46gm. By Jonas Pieter Thiébaud. With the name and titles of Karl VI. A conditionally scarce double Taler that has found itself in good company with so many impressive Augsburg issues within the indominable Cape Coral Collection included in this very auction. Struck with nearly medallic relief atop gunmetal surfaces glistening with flashes of originality and mint brilliance, certain to entice even the most scrupulous collector of this series. Bested by a single piece, an unfathomable MS66, which we had the distinct pleasure of bringing to market last August.
