Nürnberg. Free City Taler 1733-PPW MS66 NGC, Nürnberg mint, KM296, Dav-2480, Schön-29, Erlanger-688, Kellner-270. A scarce and highly sophisticated example of the type, which in any condition is outpaced by demand. Depicting its trademark artillery scene to the obverse and reverse arms, it is clear the hand of engraver Peter Paul Werner was skillful, displaying an aptitude for depth and detail. An obvious candidate for Virgil Brand's cabinet as the finest by nearly 4 grade points, this aesthetically refined representative leaves little to the imagination. Lifted to the upper echelons of the conditional census by a gracious originality via wholly reflective, lavender-tinged fields with nary an imperfection, and seemingly worthy of at least a "+" or the coveted "★," but regardless, is expected to be placed in a worthy collection for years to come.
