Edward III (1327-1377) gold Noble ND (1363-1369) MS65 PCGS, Calais mint, Cross Potent mm, Treaty Period, S-1505, N-1235, Schneider-96. ЄD | WΛRD: DЄI: GRΛ: RЄX: ΛnGL: DnS: hyB • Z (retrograde) • ΛQ | T' (saltire and double saltire stops), Edward crowned, standing facing in ship, sword in right hand, shield in left / +IhC: ΛVTЄm: TRΛnSIЄnS: PЄR: mЄDIV: ILLORVm: IBΛT (double saltire stops), large floriate cross with C at center (on side), crowned lions in angles, all within polylobe with trefoils in spandrels. An absolute stunner of this early hammered emission, rarely seen with such laudable depth to the raised devices, fully apparent to the viewer even from a distance, and replete with bright, aurous luster. Every detail remains fully discernible and struck on flan, and tempered by practically no instances of weakness or imperfection throughout. Among the finest Noble issues of this period extant, and certain to demand bidder interest commensurate with this fact.
