Great Britain
Richard II gold Noble ND (1377-1399) MS63 PCGS, Tower mint, Cross Pattee mm, S-1653-63. A charming Choice Mint State survivor from a series typically having witnessed extensive use in circulation, boasting substantial doubling and die-rust that typically plagues the series, yet this contributes to a visually fascinating surface texture yielding surprisingly matte-like appearances when seen upon illumination. Proper attribution of this particular piece is difficult due to the severity in doubling, obliterating large portions of the legends as well as the potential mark above the sail which may identify the style. Nobles of this quality regardless of monarch are truly difficult to come by and deserving of additional collector attention.
