Great Britain
Henry VIII (1509-1547) gold 1/2 Crown of the Double Rose ND (1526-1544) MS62 PCGS, Tower mint, Rose mm, Second Coinage, S-2285, N-1794 (R), Schneider-600. 1.82gm. (rosette) RVTILΛnS: ROSΛ: SInЄ: SPIΛ' (double saltire stops), crowned Tudor rose, h-K to either side / (rosette) hЄnRIC (large, crook-shaped abbreviation) • 8 • DI' • G' • ΛGL' • Z • FRΛ' (saltire stops), crowned royal shield. An exceptionally handsome example of this small gold issue, with very carefully cut stops and no real visual detractors to limit its just-shy-of-choice grade. Presently exceeded by a single MS64+ at PCGS, this is only the third opportunity we have had to offer the type, which occurs on auction with generally less frequency than the larger, full-sized Crown.
