George II Rakoczi gold 10 Ducat 1655-NB AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Nagybanya mint, KM287, Fr-394, Montenuovo-Unl., Horsky-Unl., Resch-85, MBR-2139. 34.66gm. A phenomenal and scarce representative of Transylvanian origin which so few ever have the opportunity to view. Featuring a standing armored bust of George II Rákóczi holding scepter and imbued with splendidly preserved detail, the issue at hand is elevated to a level of eye appeal that is virtually unattainable for the type. With so many falling victim to similar conditional qualifiers when surveying auction results, it is clear our specimen ranks among the best. And despite surface wisps, it is an especially rare occasion that a clearly cleaned coin nonetheless maintains such a palpable visual allure as does the piece seen here. A miraculous survivor by all measures, and a coin destined for a truly elite type collection of Transylvanian or European gold.
