Great Britain
George III Proof Bank Dollar of 5 Shillings 1804 PR65 PCGS, KM-Tn1, S-3768, ESC-1946. First leaf to end of E in DEI, inverted K in relief under shield, stop after REX variety. An absolutely stunning example of this always coveted type, especially when located in and approaching gem grades. Though officially regarding as a token issue, these so-called Dollars circulated alongside regular coinage due to the shortage of silver coins during the period. Proofs remain highly desirable, fully showcasing a design that is often found with hints of weakness due to incomplete overstriking that is notably absent in the present offering.
