Commodus. AD 177-192. AR Denarius (19mm, 2.85 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 186. Laureate head right / Commodus seated left on platform, attended by officer; before him, Liberalitas standing left, holding abacus and cornucopia; citizen on far left, climbing steps of platform. RIC III 134; MIR 18, 690-4/30; RSC 315. VF, lightly toned, flan crack. Rare.

From the R. D. Frederick Collection.

This is one of the few instances where an intricate platform scene was compressed onto the small flan of a denarius.
