Bearded head of Zeus(?) right, wearing tainia / Eagle flying left, diagonally; A–P between wings and body; all within border of pellets within incuse square. Nollé & Wenninger A 2a var. (AP monogram above eagle, XE monogram below). VF, light porosity, chipped.

After Themistokles' death (on Themistokles, see lot 79 above), his son Archepolis succeeded him as governor and issued a similar series of silver fractions. These coins are part of the primary evidence of his otherwise little-known reign.
