John II Comnenus. 1118-1143. AV Hyperpyron (30mm, 4.25 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Struck circa 1137-1143. Christ enthroned facing, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels; throne with high, pearl-ornamented back / John, wearing loros and holding globus cruciger, standing facing and being crowned and blessed by the Theotokos; obverse legends are inverted. DOC IV 3b; SB 1940. Good VF, obverse die shift, wavy flan, scratches.
