CANADA, Blacksmith tokens – Nova Scotia types. CU Token (29mm, 4.12 g, 7h). Mint in Nova Scotia (Halifax?). Struck late 1830s. Warehouse façade; HALFPENNY above / JB cypher. Wood, Blacksmith –; Charlton BL-31. Dark brown surfaces, minor planchet clip as made. Fine. A well struck example with a legible monogram on the reverse. Rare.
From the RH Collection, purchased from Andrew McKaig, January 2017.
This type is suggested to be from the Halifax area, as it copies other tokens from Nova Scotia that also depict warehouses (Charlton NS-15 and NS-29).
