GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Wolfenbuttel. 2 Talers, 1605. Zellerfeld Mint; mm: crowned heart. Heinrich Julius. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, AU Details.
Dav-6286B; KM-25.3; Welter-625A. A VERY RARE double-weight issue, this impressive specimen does exhibit the noted repair emanating from some tooling near 12 o'clock on the obverse (corresponding to about 3 o'clock on the reverse) as well as some chasing in the fields around the wildman meant to suppress some surface roughness. Nevertheless, not very much handling is present, with the details--especially upon the wildman--being rather robust and tantalizing. An altogether solid representation of an incredibly difficult emission.
