GERMANY. Schwarzburg. Taler, 1560. Arnstadt Mint. Guenther XLI, with Johann Guenther. PCGS AU-53.
Dav-9829. This VERY RARE crown from the seemingly endless line of Guenthers from Schwarzburg features not only a wildman, but a "wildwoman" as well. In the interest of early modern modesty, the latter is depicted with much more in the way of "foliage clothing" than the former, her male counterpart. Pleasingly toned and only lightly handled.
From the Robert C. Knepper Collection.
Estimate: $2000 - $4000
