S-1148; N-770. Crux (BMC iii.a) type. Obverse: Bareheaded and draped bust left; scepter to left; Reverse: Voided cross, with C - R - V - X in angles. Despite the noted peck marks--a fairly common aspect on the pennies of the era--this unhandled specimen offers a great strike and alluring toning, with some subtle hues of cobalt and crimson upon each side.
