GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1554. London Mint. Philip & Mary I. PCGS EF-45.
S-2500; N-1967. Obverse: Confronted busts of Philip, armored, and Mary, veiled; crown above; Reverse: Garnished oval coat-of-arms; above, crown between X-II (mark of value). Very seldom encountered so enticing and attractive, this lightly handled issue from Mary's joint-reign period following her marriage to Philip, the King of Spain, presents well executed and well preserved details, especially within the royal portraits. No issues that commonly plague the series are observed, allowing this example to stand as one of the finer representations that one is likely to discover.
