GREAT BRITAIN. Crown, ND (1645). London Mint; mm: eye. Charles I. PCGS AU-55.
S-2761; N-2198; Brooker-271 (same obv. die). Group 4. Struck under Parliament. Obverse: Charles, holding sword and reins, riding horse trotting left; Reverse: Garnished oval coat-of-arms. A fairly RARE and impressive specimen, this deeply toned example--exuding hues of gunmetal gray and even some tinges of cobalt--radiates tremendous originality and undoubtedly stands as one of the finest extant for the type. Rather accordingly, this Crown is the best certified at PCGS from the three which have been seen. To view all items from the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection, click
