S-2945A; N-2404; Brooker-Appendix I, 15. Declaration type. Obverse: Charles, holding sword and reins, riding horse trotting left; plumes to right, pile of arms on ground line below; Reverse: Declaration in two lines between two parallel lines; three plumes above. A RARER type than the 1642-dated version, this charming specimen features a deep gray tone and some darker accents highlighting the devices. Some typical striking weakness is observed on the obverse, but the overall level of handling is quite light, yielding a great wholesome nature.
