GREAT BRITAIN. James "III"/Appeal Against the House of Hannover Bronze Medal, 1721. PCGS SPECIMEN-63.
MI-454/63; Eimer-493; Woolf-40:1. By O. Hamerani. Diameter: 47mm. Obverse: Draped and armored bust of James "III" (the Old Pretender) right; Reverse: Horse of Hannover trampling English lion and Scottish unicorn, as distressed Britannia watches under a tree to left; veduta of London in background. Edge: Plain. Presenting alluring brown surfaces and a great deal of glistening brilliance, this choice Jacobite piece features the bust of the Old Pretender, the would-be James III, as a more favorable leader for Great Britain than George I, a Hannoverian German, especially following the debacle of the South Sea Bubble in 1720.
