SCOTLAND. 60 Shillings, 1691. Edinburgh Mint. William & Mary. PCGS AU-55.
S-5642; KM-134. Nearly unknown in this condition, with the next closest certified example merely being a VF-20 example certified by NGC. The TREMENDOUS RARITY of this coin to be preserved in this condition almost beggars belief and should stun any British or Scottish collectors. Wonderfully struck, with a rich application of beautifully engraved detail that is only moderately affected by wear. A rich mint glossiness remains, and the deeply colored flan adds an exceptional depth of charm to the surfaces. A phenomenal piece, and a lot that should engender spirited bidding, as it is unlikely that many other examples of similar condition will come to market.
