Woodward Sale 2, &c.
Woodward, W. Elliot. CATALOGUE OF AN EXTENSIVE AND VALUABLE COLLECTION OF AMERICAN AND FOREIGN COINS, COMPRISING MANY VERY RARE SPECIMENS OF COLONIAL COINAGE, PATTERN PIECES, &C. ... Boston: Leonard & Co., October 23-24, 1860. 8vo, original printed paper covers. 36 pages; 1222 lots. Front cover loosening, else near fine. Accompanied by photocopies of the very rare Woodward Sales A and 1. Adams 2. Woodward's second sale, though his name does not appear on the catalogue. Very scarce. While much of the cataloguing is terse, there are signs here and there of incipient greatness. Attinelli 20: "Upward of 100 varieties of colonial pieces are separately described in this catalogue." Woodward's first two sales, designated Sales A and 1 by Adams, are extremely rare, making the photocopies accompanying this lot rather useful. Ex Cardinal Collection Library.
