Woodward Sale 3
Woodward, W. Elliot. CATALOGUE OF A VERY LARGE AND VALUABLE COLLECTION OF COINS, MEDALS, STORE CARDS, MEDALETS, &C., AMERICAN AND FOREIGN... Boston: Leonard & Co., January 8, 1861. 8vo, original printed paper covers. 20 pages; 702 lots. Near fine. Adams 3. A well-preserved copy of Woodward's Sale 3, still catalogued anonymously and held under the Leonard & Company banner. Scarce. The auction was originally scheduled for December 26, 1860, and this copy has an amended date slip pasted over the original date (as often seen). According to Attinelli, the sale brought $177.55. It offered a variety of U.S. copper and silver coins, some Washington pieces, and a group of tokens and medals. Attinelli 22. Ex Cardinal Collection Library.
(Estimate: $100)
