Plated 1882 Ralston Sale, ex Champa & Bass
Woodward, W. Elliot. EXECUTOR'S SALE. CATALOGUE OF THE NUMISMATIC COLLECTION OF PROF. J. GRIER RALSTON, LATE OF NORRISTOWN, PENN. New York: Bangs, October 16-18, 1882. 8vo, later blue half calf; spine ruled and lettered in gilt; original printed paper front cover bound in. 65, (1) pages; 1842 lots; 2 fine heliotype plates. Hand-priced in ink. Trimmed, with edges of two coin photos just barely affected. Else fine. Adams 50, with plates. Very scarce. One plate mostly depicts rare United States silver coins and the other illustrates choice large cents and a few half cents and tokens. At the end of the catalogue, Woodward appends a listing of his auction catalogues, with comments on rarity and other matters--very useful for researchers today. Ex Armand Champa Library (Davis/Bowers Part III, lot 2657); ex Harry W. Bass, Jr. Library (Kolbe Sale 75, lot 288); ex Kolbe Sale 112, lot 318; ex Cardinal Collection Library.
(Estimate: $200)
