Plated Howard & Holstein Sale
Woodward, W. Elliot. REPRESENTATIVE OF ALL NATIONS. CATALOGUE OF A VERY EXTENSIVE COLLECTION OF GOLD, SILVER AND COPPER COINS AND MEDALS, PRINCIPALLY FROM THE CABINETS OF WINSLOW J. HOWARD AND FRANCIS HOLSTEIN. New York: Bangs, March 4-6, 1884. 8vo, original printed paper covers. 101, (1) pages; 2204 lots; 1 fine heliotype plate. Front cover detached but present; lacking rear cover. Very good. Adams 63, with plate. Woodward probably overdoes it by saying the sale contains "a greater number and larger variety of Coins, particularly in Copper, than was ever before offered at any one American Sale," but it does include some important pieces. Rated B overall, and for large cents, tokens, U.S. gold and the Americas in particular. Ex Cardinal Collection Library.
(Estimate: $150)
