M. Aurelius Scaurus, 118 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.80 g, 3 h), Rome. ROMA M•AVRELI Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet and pendant earring; behind, X (mark of value). Rev. SCAVRRI / L•LIC•CN•DOM Nude and bearded warrior standing front in quadriga, head to right, holding shield, carnyx and reins in his left hand and hurling spear with his right. Babelon (Aurelia) 20, (Licinia) 20 and (Domitia) 15. Crawford 282/1. RBW 1106. Sydenham 523. Somewhat rough and with two minor scrapes on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
