CRUSADERS. Venetians in the Levant. 14th to 15th centuries. Ducat (Electrum, 21 mm, 3.39 g, 9 h), uncertain mint, struck in the name of Andrea Dandolo, 1342-1354. ANDR DANDVI / DVX / S M VENE St. Mark standing to right, holding book of Gospels and presenting banner to the doge kneeling to left. Rev. Christ, nimbate, standing facing in mandorla with nine stars, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; around, blundered legend. Schlumb. Tf. XII, 34. Ives XIII, 1 var. Lunardi CS6. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die, otherwise, good very fine.
