ISLAMIC COINS. OTTOMAN. Mustafa III b. Ahmad III (1171-1187h), Gold Funduq, Islambul 1171/81, 3.51g (Pere 613). Edge damage and scratched in reverse field, otherwise about extremely fine and rare.
The reign of Mustafa III saw the abandonment of isolated letters on the coinage of Constantinople. While the accession date continued to appear, a second set of numerals identified the annual date of striking. For example the 81 found on this coin shows that it was struck in the year 1181, ten years after Mustafa's accession.
Estimate: £250-300
