KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 15.13 g, 12 h), Mesembria, circa 175-150. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in inner left field, Corinthian helmet above XO; below throne, HPA. Karayotov 132 (O47/R127). Price 1101. Several scratches and scrapes, otherwise, very fine.
