HUNNIC TRIBES, Western Turks. Hemidrachm (Billon, 25 mm, 2.46 g, 3 h), uncertain mint, possibly in Zabulistan, circa 650. Draped bust to right, wearing crown surmounted by blossom and necklace with two ribbons attached; in upper field to left, small Alchon tamgha; to right, ŠRI SHAHI ('His Perfection, King' in Brahmi). Rev. Stylized Sasanian style altar flanked by two attendants. Göbl 257. Vondrovec, Type 257. Rare and with attractive earthen highlights on a dark patina. Struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
