ISLAMIC, Ayyubids. Mayyafariqin & Jabal Sinjar. al-'Adil I Sayf al-Din Ahmad, AH 589-596 / AD 1193-1200. Dirham (Bronze, 29 mm, 8.77 g, 1 h), Mayyafariqin, AH 591 = AD 1194/5. Draped facing bust, wearing headdress and mantle, held together by clasp, from which pendant hangs down; in field to left and right, as well as in outer margin, Legend in Kufic. Rev. Legend in Kufic in five lines; around, legend in Kufic. Balog, Ayyubids 340. Minor corrosion and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
