A note from BCD: Very few, if any, Greek coin collections that were formed in just a few years can boast the variety and the richness of the Lucien de Hirsch holdings. The collector died when he was only 30 years old and the visitor to Brussels, where the collection is separately displayed in a coin cabinet that is also a magnificent piece of furniture, can only feel awe when he tries to guess what the result would be if the owner had lived to a ripe old age.
