A note from BCD: Friedlander had access to only a fraction of the information we possess today and yet, by diligently searching the sources as well as using his unquestionable talent of intuition, was able to single out the most dangerous Greek and Roman forgeries in the 1880's. And let's face it, old forgeries, when cleverly made, are far more dangerous than contemporary ones.
