AUCTION CATALOGUES and FIXED PRICE LISTS . Malloy, Inc., Alex G. South Salem, NY. Group of 2 auctions: Auction IV, 14 March 1975. Medieval Coins. 385 lots, 25 pages, 18 plates, estimates and prices realized lists. With Auction V, 15 March 1975, Ides of March: Roman Coins. Lots 601-977 + 12 lots of zodiac type bronzes and a page laid in of 9 additional Greek lots, 26 pages, 19 +1 plates, estimates and prices realized list. (19.5x25cm), illustrated heavy paper covers as issued. Rubbed and partially split at spine, interiors Good to Very Good.

A note from BCD: Back in the 70's Alex's idea of "Medieval" included Byzantine, Celtic, Axumite and Sassanian. Today these are thought of as "Ancient" by most dealers and collectors. If we adhere to chronology, perhaps Alex was right. Whatever the case, both these catalogues but especially the Roman sale could prove very useful as potential sources of lost provenances, mainly in the average collector type coins area.
