A note from BCD: If one could build up in his mind the image of a real "Gentleman Dealer" in ancient numismatics, it would be the late Bob Myers. And yet his auctions could not quite reach out and attract the top-quality consignments that would allow them entry to the highest status group of the business. There have been rumors that Silvia Hurter would pass on to him the ancient coins that were not good enough for the Leu sales. People who knew him well would probably say he was too polite and too kind to turn them down.
