A note from BCD: Few people know that Jonathan was a serious collector of Roman coins in his younger years before he switched to archaic Greek. Apart from his set of the 12 Caesars in gold – the wish of many newbie Roman coin collectors today – he obviously had a soft spot for the Imperatorial issues and especially Marc Antony. This is more than just a pleasing collection; one can detect a purpose behind the selection of almost every coin.
