The 'Gothic' crown has enjoyed a recent rise in popularity. Created by the great engraver William Wyon at the height of his career, the coin was a stunning culmination of his artistic success. Now the beautiful imagery of the gothic obverse and reverse is to be enjoyed again in this modern issue by the Royal Mint showing Queen Elizabeth II alongside Wyon's magnificent design. A delight to see the imagery in gold, and unusual to have to two examples sold as a boxed set. The original crown was struck in gold but it remains of the highest rarity and is seldom offered for sale.
