India, Mughal Empire, Shah Jahan (1628-58), gold mohur or contemporary copy, Shahjahanabad, AH.1067 (written 0617) / 31, legends in octofoil frame both sides, wt. 10.95gms. (KM.259.4), very fine and interesting
Although this coin has all the characteristics typical of this rare type, the fact the date is mis-written and the legends are sloppily executed lead the cataloguer to the opinion that this coin was not struck at an official mint.
(700-900 GBP)
