(x) Oliver Cromwell, Contemporary Imitation Broad, 1656, laureate head left, rev. crowned shield of the Protectorate, edge milled, 7.87g, 6h (Lessen, BNJ 1996, p.132, a4b, this piece; cf. North 2744; cf. Spink 3225), slightly creased and bright, otherwise highly curious, a remarkable contemporaneous forgery in gold of Cromwell's canon, presumably very rare.
