George Canning (1770-1827), Laudatory medal, AE medal, 1826, by A. J. Stothard published by S. Parker, CANNING, bust left, within decorative border, rev. female leaning on column holding ribbon inscribed TO GREAT MEN, MDCCCXXVI in exergue, 108.88g, 64mm (BHM 1256), verdigris and black marks to fields, scratch to reverse at 8 o'clock and dent to edge at 2 o'clock, otherwise very fine.
One of Parker's series of 'Great Men' and priced at one guinea. Subscriptions were received by Samuel Parker and by Robert Jennings, a bookseller and publisher of No.2 Poultry, London.
