ATTICA. Athens. 2nd-1st centuries BC. AR tetradrachm (29mm, 16.41 gm, 12h). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5. New Style coinage, ca. 107/6 BC, 4th month, Heracleides, Eucles, and Ariston, magistrates. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with aphlaston, Pegasus above undecorated upturned cheek flap, protomes of four horses above visor / Α-ΘΕ / HPA-KΛE-ΔHΣ / EYK/ΛHΣ / APIS/TΩN, owl standing facing on overturned amphora decorated with Δ (month); winged Tyche standing left in right field, amphora in right hand, cornucopia cradled on left arm, ΣO (engraver) below, all within olive wreath. HGC 4, 1602. Thompson 752b (139/8 BC).
