AD 616-625. dd NN hЄRACLIЧS ЄT hЄRA CONST PP AV, facing busts of Heraclius, bearded (on left), and Heraclius Constantine, smaller and beardless (on right), both wearing ornate crown and chlamys; cross above between them / VICTORIA-AVϚЧ Z (retrograde), cross potent with base on three steps; CONOB below. Sear 734. A coin struck from expertly crafted dies without any of the areas of wear that typically affect this type. A lovely prooflike contrast of black and gold; virtually as struck. Only one coin in sales archives with a higher grade.
