A useful, and handsomely produced reprint of one of the finest sales of Greek coins ever to come to auction, belonging to the French surgeon, gynaecologist, politician and socialite Samuel-Jean Pozzi who was famously murdered by an embittered patient in his consulting room in 1918. The remarkable sale held by Ars Classica in 1921 accounted for only part of his collection - totalling over 8,500 coins in it's entirety, a complete catalogue of the collection had been in production which Pozzi's untimely death then prevented. It was not until 1979 that this project eventually came to light courtesy of Serge Boutin, in what was ultimately a rather disappointing publication. The reprint provided here goes some way to making amends for that, in what is a fine production, with good quality plates throughout, making Pozzi's remarkable collection finally available in it's entirety. An excellent reference
