An exceptional example of this scarce type. Faustus Sulla was the son of the Dictator; his coins celebrate his father. This reverse type commemorates one of Sulla's earliest, most famous, and most remarkable accomplishments: as quaestor to Gaius Marius in Numidia, Sulla compelled Bocchus to surrender his son-in-law Jugurtha into Sulla's custody, effectively ending the Jugurthine War and, perhaps, laying the foundation of his rivalry with Marius.
