George William Odey, CBE, DL (1900–1985) went on to University College, London. In 1947 he was elected as the Conservative MP for Howdenshire. After the boundary changes for the 1950 General Election he was MP for the newly created Beverley constituency, holding the seat for 5 years when the constituency was abolished. His business career was in leather and tanning, joining Barrow, Hepburn and Gale and, after several mergers becoming chairman of the Barrow Hepburn Group in 1937. In 1974 he was appointed Honorary President.
