The cruiser Jeanne d'Arc was built for the Marine Nationale as a training ship. After the fall of France, she escaped to Halifax, later sailing with the Free French. She resumed duties as a training ship after the War, being retired in 1964. The medal is also found with a ship portrait on the reverse.
